Tribal Elder Mildred Burley (seen here) is ready to finish unloading what is left of food drive donations to share amongst tribal members.

The food distribution conducted by the Tribe was such a success last month, that the Tribe once again undertook the endeavor to ask for assistance within the local Morada community to address the needs of its tribal members that reside within the Motherlode.

Food supplies were gathered over the course of a few days and were delivered to Mildred Burley, Tribal Elder/Artisan and Language Retentionist. Tribal Elder Mildred Burley has made a personal commitment to distribute whatever supplies our program makes available to California Valley Miwok tribal families.

We are so proud that she is not only our tribal elder, but also our sokap’e’nu (teacher) for all the wealth of knowledge of our tribe and our customs that she passes down to members of the Tribe each and every day.

We thank Tribal Elder Mildred Burley for her dedication and to the community of Morada for their continued generosity in addressing our tribal needs.
