The White House again in reaching out to the nation’s indigenous tribes, held what will be the last Tribal Nations Conference under the presidency of Barack Obama.
The Tribe gives heartfelt thanks to President Barack Obama for initiating this conference and continuing it throughout his presidency. It has been a major milestone in government to government relations between the nation’s tribes and the United States government. It opened much dialogue and showed the concern and respect that this administration uniquely has for the nation’s indigenous peoples in the creation of this yearly event.
The Tribe is hopeful that this will now be an ongoing event that all successive presidents will undertake, in the continuation of the strengthening of relationships between the United States government and the nation’s indigenous peoples. Our Tribe as always was honored to be invited and to send our Chairperson Silvia Burley to represent us in this historic event.
