On October 28th, 2017, the California Valley Miwok Tribe again conducted its monthly Food for Tribal Families program, (FFTF). Going into the holiday season, shortfalls for Native American families and especially tribal families of CVMT are even more difficult with higher heating bills, sickness and hazardous travel.

Due to unwarranted shortfalls in government assistance, the Food for Tribal Families (FFTF) Program was created out of necessity. Members such as Tribal Elder Mildred Burley herself benefit from this program, as she receives no assistance from the BIA and is ineligible for USDA assistance.

As such, the Tribe depends upon the goodwill of others and is fortunate that some of the most understanding, giving and caring reside alongside the Tribe in the small community of Morada, CA.

This month the program also once again benefited from the goodwill of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.,  in that they once again supplied frozen meats to the program.

The Tribe would like to thank the local Morada community, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Tribal Elder Mildred Burley and those whom assist her in the fulfillment of this program.
