The California Valley Miwok Tribe, located at 4620 Shippee ln. Stockton, CA, received a flyer for an upcoming meeting of the leadership council and regents elections.
The California Valley Miwok Tribe has long been involved in higher education for Native people and our Chairperson Silvia Burley is the official tribal delegate appointed by our tribe in that endeavor.
Chairperson Burley knows of the importance of a quality education and has utilized her own education in the administering of programs and initiating protections against outside interference in the service of her tribal peoples.
Chairperson Burley herself was once a student of D-Q University, which offered accredited classes from 1971-2005 and was the 1996-1997 ( AIHEC ) American Indian Higher Education Consortium student of the year for the state of California.
The California Tribal College is built upon a very strong foundation and has tribal participation previously unseen within California, and, as such, has had unrivaled success in bringing a better education and opportunities to this nation’s first people.
