On Tuesday, June 19th, 2012, the California Valley Miwok Tribe held its monthly USDA Food Distribution. The Tribe was happy to have a chance to talk with the recipients, as they arrived to pick up their allotments.
A very special highlight of today’s food distribution was to get a picture of the newly titled 2012-2013 “Red Circle Pow Wow Princess”, Ms. Karly Fountain (Tribal Member of the Calaveras County Mountain Miwuk). Joining her in the picture is her proud father, Mr. Mark Fountain (Vice Chairman of the Calaveras County Mountain Miwuk) and Karly’s sister, Ms. Taylor Fountain (Tribal Member of the Calaveras County Mountain Miwuk). Congratulations Karly!!
The Tribe would also like to give a warm thank you to the Tule River Rancheria and its USDA Food Distribution Program Director/Manager and Staff; Mrs. Patricia Salas, her guests, Mr. Ronald Buckman, and the San Joaquin Native Veterans Lodge for their assistance in distributing the food allotments and for the bottled water that was donated.
