This month’s California Valley Miwok Tribal USDA Food Distribution was held on Thursday, December 14th, 2023.
This was the final event of yet another successful year in running the tribal USDA food program in conjunction with the Tule Rive Tribe, its Food Distribution Department and the United States Department of Agriculture. Originally undertaken in 2009 to address the needs of the tribe’s Native American parents and tribal youth that had already experienced the consequences of the local bureau of Indian Affairs meddling in internal tribal affairs, taking it upon themselves without legal cause to deny services that all federally recognized citizens of American Indian Tribes are entitled to whether the BIA personally likes your duly elected government or not.

The tribe has even recently been made aware that local officials in their vindictiveness have again tried to intervene in this program just to once again be rebuffed and put into their place as this service falls outside the jurisdiction of their authority.

Central California Agency in Sacramento California, should be renamed Bureau of Indian Atrocities/Central California Agency.

Regardless of their efforts, the tribe continues to be strong with an active elected government working under the original charter of a resolution form of government that was actually established with the assistance of this very same BIA agency some twenty-five years ago.

At this time, we would like to thank those listed below who although most prevalent are just a sampling of all the federal and state agencies that the tribe deals with on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, as local BIA officials think they have the power to terminate, take over or reconstitute federally recognized tribes, seemingly oblivious that that power alone sits with the Congress of the United States. All the while other federal and state departments know better.

Special thanks to those listed below,
The United States Department of Agriculture, The Federal Emergency Management Agency, The United States Army Corps of Engineer’s, The California Office of Emergency Services, The California Department of Justice, The Red Lake Nation of Minnesota, The Tule River Tribe and its Food Distribution Department. Special thanks to service provider Ronald Buckman who this Christmas appeared as Santa Claus in contrast to the BIA’s Grinch.

THANK YOU ALL,
THE CALIFORNIA VALLEY MIWOK TRIBE
