The California Valley Miwok Tribe located at 10601 Escondido Pl., Stockton, CA 95212, held this month’s installment of its food distribution program on June 7th, 2010 between 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm. The Tribe is mindful that being able to deliver this program to needy families in these harsh economic times is a necessity, for so many depend upon it. A few new recipients were added this month and appreciative that the Tribe is able to offer such assistance via the USDA and the Tule River Food Distribution Program.
The California Valley Miwok Tribal Chairperson, Silvia Burley implores anyone whom may qualify for this program to contact the Tribe to request an application. As in previous distributions, the Tribe, with written permission, will for a limited time, store distributions until recipients can acquire transportation. The Tribe is hopeful that in the future, it will be able to deliver directly to recipients in which travel is a hardship. At this time, the Tribe would like to thank the United States Department of Agriculture, the Tule River Tribe and its Food Distribution Staff, and also the members of the San Joaquin Native American Veterans Lodge for their support and the bottled water they provide which enhances the distributions.
