The California Valley Miwok Tribe – located at 10601 N. Escondido PL, Stockton, CA (As listed in the Bureau of Indian Affairs BIA/DOI Spring 2011 Tribal Leaders Directory), a federally recognized tribe eligible to receive and distribute services from the federal government – On Monday, March 26th, 2012, was granted the Motion to Intervene in Federal Case No. 1:11-cv-00160-RWR. The motion granted in the Tribe’s favor to intervene was granted using the strongest language possible in all statutes regarding intervention.
The Tribe is very pleased to now be able to stand alongside the United States Department of Justice in defending the August 31st, 2011 Re-affirmation and Final Agency Action of Under-Secretary Larry EchoHawk, that confirmed and protected the sovereignty of the Tribe and its recognized membership. The Tribe looks forward to a swift and vigilant defense on its behalf by its legal counsel Rob Rosette and Saba Bazzazieh of Rosette, LLP; for whom better to represent our position than the competent and knowledgable legal representation of the actual Tribe itself.
