On Thursday February 28th, 2019, the California Valley Miwok Tribe delivered the second installment of the new year’s distribution to its Program Director, Mildred Burley for disbursement to its federally recognized member tribal families.
With the recent heavy rains and dropping temperatures, the needy families this month are receiving an over abundance of meats and soups along with the usual staple of goods through the tribe’s assistance in meeting their nutritional needs.
The tribe and its Program Director are hopeful with its new legal assistance and previously unforeseen favorable events currently occurring, that this is the year that many other programs may soon come available in addressing long neglected needs where its members have had to endure without.
So with this optimism the tribe would like to thank those that have assisted and continue to do so while the tribe’s needs are at their greatest including but not limited to, Walmart Stores Inc., Safeway Stores Inc., Morada and its surrounding communities and to those unnamed volunteers who assist as their schedules allow with this program.
Also a very special thanks to our Program Director and tribal elder, Mildred Burley.
Thank you,
The California Valley Miwok Tribe
