The California Valley Miwok Tribe received notification from the National Johnson-O’Malley Association (NJOMA) regarding the upcoming 2014 National Johnson-O’Malley Association Conference – 20th Anniversary, to be held on March 25-27, 2014, at the Doubletree Denver by Hilton Hotel, 3203 Quebec Street, Denver, Colorado, 80207 Mail completed registration form (s) with payment by March 7, 2014 to: 2014 NJOMA Conference, P.O. Box 126, Okmulgee, OK 74447.

In commemoration NJOMA’s first annual conference 20 years ago, NJOMA once again selected the “Mile High” city of Denver, Colorado as the host city. NJOMA started with a group of Johnson O’Malley participants, educators and officials concerned with creating its own identity in Indian Education, and with the dedication of these individuals, past and present, are continuing to support JOM to a prosperous and productive future.

The National Johnson-O’Malley Association Board of Directors was excited to plan the 2014 NJOMA Annual Conference, as it is marking 80 years of the Johnson-O’Malley Program, and 20 years since the inception of the National Johnson-O’Malley Association. NJOMA will start the 2014 Conference immediately following the 2014 Denver March Pow wow.

The purpose of the National Johnson-O’Malley Association, Inc. was formed as a nonprofit, educational organization for the following reasons: To create an effective forum for discussion of educational and related matters of mutual concern among the members of the educational community; to mutually develop standards of educational excellence for Indian students served by the educational programs within the United States; to maintain appropriate lines of communication and collaborative efforts with other public, private, tribal and federal educators and educational programs; to maintain formal liaisons with Tribal, State and Federal governmental agencies and other educational organizations, including but not limited to National Congress of American Indians, National Indian Education Association and other alliance organizations; and, to advocate for Johnson-O’Malley Programs and the rights of Indian children from 3 years old through twelfth grade.
