On Tuesday, December 13th, 2016, the California Valley Miwok Tribe held its monthly “USDA Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations” (FDPIR), the last such food distribution event for this year.

Tribal members and Food Distribution Program participants arrived continuously throughout the day to pick up their allotments, as well as drop off cards/gifts and visit with friends and family. Many participants were pleasantly surprised to receive frozen whole chickens and roasts during this month’s distribution event, to take back home and share with their families.

For anyone interested in participating in the food distribution program, please don’t hesitate to contact the tribal office using the methods highlighted below, to receive more information.

About the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations:

Eligible participants of the USDA FDPIR program commonly receive items such as:

  • Packaged frozen meats
  • Canned meats, vegetables, fruits and soups
  • Dry packaged beans, rice, noodles and cereal
  • Dried fruits, nuts and crackers
  • Fresh and powdered dairy products such as cheese, milk and eggs
  • Assortment of fruit juices

Additionally, cookbooks containing recipes which can be prepared from the USDA FDPIR distributed foods are also available upon request, as supplies allow.
