The California Valley Miwok Tribe received a flyer from the US Forest Service announcing the Pinecrest Lake Fish Faire that is to take place on June 20th, 2015, in Pinecrest, California.
The Forest Service announced, in conjunction with National Get Outdoors Day, children up to 16-years of age accompanied by an adult are invited to the annual Pinecrest Lake Fish Faire.
Pinecrest Fish Faire provides young people and adults with a memorable day discovering the joys of fishing, free of charge, and helps youth to develop an appreciation for our National Forest lands and the recreation opportunities they provide.
Fishing is a great way for children to have fun, learn about nature and spend time with their families in the outdoors. The Fish Faire includes humor and musical entertainment by Bill Roberson, many hands-on activities, and passport stations including fly fishing with Mother Lode Fly Fishing Club, camping, and Wilderness Act 50th Anniversary.
Special appearances will be made by Smokey Bear, Sammy & Frances Fish, and Woodsy Owl. Registered participants, after visiting specific stations, can fish for a prize. A free hot dog lunch will be provided. Festivities include:
7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – Registration at the Pinecrest Amphitheater
8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Fishing and Casting Contests
9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Activities and Displays
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Lunch with Entertainment at Amphitheater
12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Presentation of Awards
The event is sponsored by the Stanislaus National Forest, Pinecrest Lake Resort, California Department of Fish and Game, Kiwanis Club of Sonora and the Stanislaus National Forest Employees Association.
