The California Indian Museum and Cultural Center (CIMCC) is beginning a five year project to help bridge the gap in culturally specific youth employment resources. Made possible by a Sustainable Employment and Economic Development Strategies (SEEDS) grant, this project will develop a Native youth employment training program which will operate through a new gift shop to be established for a museum gift store.
At this two-day seminar, CIMCC will bring together tribal member youth and adults and local community to begin the business planning process for a museum gift store.
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! Attendees will engage in a series of interactive, hands-on workshops to imagine and develop a blueprint for a successful social enterprise staffed by Indian youth. The seminar will include discussions and activities covering the full range of small business development components, from high-level brainstorming to a practical exploration of the business model, market research, marketing, financials, and pitching investors. Ultimately, the group will produce a larger vision and a “mini business plan” outlining the key elements of a CIMCC run venture.
LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED, for more information, please contact Jamey Lyn at (707) 579-3004 or email cimandcc@aol.com or visit CIMCC website at www.cimcc.org.
