Food For Tribal Families Program Director, Mildred Burley, stands with the large amount of food and Covid-19 supplies that made this month a real success.

On Monday, May 24th, 2021 the California Valley Miwok Tribe delivered the May distribution to its Program Director, Mildred Burley, to be dispersed among the federally recognized citizen families of the tribe.

This along with the USDA Food Distributions which also benefit many non-member indigenous peoples throughout the tribes service area are of a great benefit to all that participate and over time have helped with great supplemental and nutritional value.

Even though attempted the local BIA-CCA and its leadership has failed to stop these benefits.

This was another great distribution that also included health supplies to combat the possible transmission of Covid-19 that otherwise would be discontinued if the local BIA superintendent had that discretion.

It is always good when tribes have the power to exercise their sovereign rights allowing their duly elected governments the authority to address the needs of their citizens without compromise or fear of subjugation by those with ill intent.

Such has made this a success story and monthly deliveries are felt as substantial victories every time a tribal family receives enough food to get them through the month, or very necessary supplies to help reduce their chances or the chances of their children becoming gravely ill.

So we thank all those who have contributed to our health and well being listed below.

The United States Department of Agriculture, The Tule River Tribe, FEMA, Cal OES, Walmart Stores Inc., Food For Less Stores Inc., Morada and it’s surrounding communities and all those who assist, volunteer and donate.

A special thanks to Mildred Burley, our Program Director.
